The Great Barrier has a diversity of rich underwater life fed by the East Auckland Current which travels south through the famous Poor Knights and Mokohinau Islands, reaching the 23 islands making up the Great Barrier. With a mixture of sub-tropical and temperate water fish and a colourful volcanic history, the underwater world of Great Barrier Island is an adventure for all diver levels.
Outer Gulf Charter specialises in diving new sites regularly. The Barrier measures 285 sq/km and is 40 km long by 15 km wide - providing a huge underwater environment to explore and there's always something new to discover...
Great Barrier Island dive trips include 2 dives, sausage sizzle, coffee, tea, hot chocolate & hot soups, hot shower, and a DIVER LIFT. Usually arriving back at Leigh Harbour by 4-5pm depending on weather conditions.
Travel time is approximately 1hr, 10min-1hr, 40 mins depending on our destination, which often includes Kathryn Bay, Wellington Heads, Broken Islands and Pigeon Rocks.
