The PADI Guided Snorkel Experience is an introduction to snorkeling lesson and a guided tour with the Goat Island Dive & Snorkel PADI Divemasters.

The Guided Snorkel Experience is perfect for anyone new to snorkeling or for those wanting to enhance their skills - individuals and groups are welcome. It's also a fantastic experience for school groups, corporate events, christmas functions or team building exercises! Goat Island Dive & Snorkel can cater for groups of up to 90 people per day.

Goat Island Dive & Snorkel - Guided Snorkel Experience Course Schedule:

The PADI Guided Snorkel Experience runs daily throughout the summer period, bookings are essential.
Minimum of 2 persons to run the snorkel experience are required.

Off to the beach for a flip chart presentation incorporating 'tips on how to snorkel', background history on New Zealand's first marine reserve and what fish and marine life you can expect to see in Goat Island Marine Reserve.
Gear up time
Then under the direct supervision of your PADI Divemaster, your off snorkeling in the Goat Island Marine Reserve. Wade in to waist deep water and practice your new snorkel skills, we get your confidence level up in the shallows first.
Your PADI Divemaster will ensure that you stay safe and comfortable at all times
You’ll be surrounded by a myriad of colourful New Zealand fish life including blue maomao, snapper, parore, spotties as well as crayfish. No promises, dolphins love visiting the reserve and playing with the snorkellers, this might be your day!
Don't forget to get your $35 underwater film camera (27 exposures) or $99 underwater digital video/camera from the Goat Island Dive & Snorkel shop, your PADI Divemaster can record your experience as you snorkel with the fish!

PADI Snorkel Experience led by our PADI Divemasters
Your snorkel equipment hire (mask, snorkel, fins and 3mm full length wetsuit)
Fish ID card

MARINE-VU Board (Great for those who lack confidence in the water) Don't be left behind on the beach, why not join your group! You can lie on top of the flotation board and watch the fish through the perspex chamber and be part of the fun. Wetsuit and fins included for your safety.

Guided Snorkel Experience Course Prerequisites:

Minimum age of 6 (must be accompanied by a guardian)
Basic swimming ability to get the most out of your experience. Flotation boogie boards are towed for added security or you can upgrade to a MARINE VU board (wetsuit and fins compulsory, life jackets are available for children)

You can request a booking online by clicking here, we will take your credit card details, but your payment will not be processed until the day of your booking, as our guided snorkel experience is a weather dependent activity.
The course is subject to availability and a minimum of 2 persons. First in first served for scheduled date
Any cancellation calls due to weather are to be made by us. We have access to accurate weather forecasting information and have more than 12 years experience with local marine conditions. Your safety is our priority. We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for any cancellation for any reason.
