The ocean is at the heart of everything we do.
Through SSI Blue Oceans, Goat Island Dive & Snorkel is committed to protecting marine life, supporting local conservation and helping more people understand why our underwater world is worth looking after.
From guided snorkel adventures and education to community projects, restoration work and local partnerships, we want every experience at Goat Island to inspire people to: Explore it. Enjoy it. Protect it.
Salt Session - Kōrero, Kai & Wai
Ocean adventure meets environmental education.
Together with Salt Aotearoa, we take young people into the water at Goat Island for a guided snorkelling experience where they can discover the marine reserve for themselves.
The adventure continues back at the Swanmill Café with Kōrero, Kai & Wai — a relaxed session focused on conservation, connection and caring for our environment.
It’s about making marine education exciting, hands-on and memorable.
Te Kohuroa Rewilding
Healthy oceans start on land too.
Our connection to the environment doesn’t stop at the shoreline.
We support Te Kohuroa Rewilding, a community-led project restoring freshwater and marine ecosystems around Matheson Bay.
Their work includes guided snorkels, kelp restoration, biodiversity surveys and community conservation projects.
Our Blue Oceans team also gets involved with local kina removal days, helping support restoration work happening right here on our coastline.

Blue Oceans Project with Leigh Kindy
Some of our favourite conservation adventures happen before anyone even gets into the ocean.
Through our Blue Oceans sessions with Leigh Kindergarten, we introduce local tamariki to the marine life living right on their doorstep.
From songs and storytelling to discovering the creatures found around Goat Island, these sessions are about making the ocean fun, exciting and familiar.
Because when children grow up loving the ocean, they are far more likely to want to protect it.
