Diving brings amazing experiences, but also moments that test your calm and skill. Stress and panic are real risks, and knowing how to manage them can make the difference between safety and danger.

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue Course teaches you how to recognise, prevent, and respond to stress in yourself and others. It’s one of the most challenging — and most rewarding — courses you’ll ever take.

What You’ll Learn

Over two days, you’ll complete classroom theory, confined-water practice, and open-water rescue scenarios.

You’ll cover:

Stress recognition & management — understanding causes, prevention, and early signs
Accident Management and emergency planning
Rescue techniques for distressed, panicked, and unconscious divers
Communication and teamwork in real-life scenarios

In-Water Sessions

Confined Water Training:
Practice self-rescue skills, assist panicking divers on the surface, and rescue unconscious divers below the surface.

Open Water Dives:
Put your skills to the test in three realistic rescue scenarios that challenge your awareness, control, and decision-making.

These dives are intensive but immensely rewarding — the perfect way to build true confidence under pressure.

By the End of the Course

You’ll be a stronger, more capable diver with a whole new perspective on safety and awareness.

Graduates of this course are respected in the diving community and it’s a mandatory step toward professional training.

You’ll also understand how quality, well-fitted equipment reduces stress and improves your ability to help others — an important part of becoming a calm, reliable diver.

Minimum age 15 years
Comprehensive Training: We are committed to providing you with all the necessary information and training to ensure you complete the course safely and to a high standard.
Qualified Professionals: Our scuba instructors are carefully selected for their professionalism and expertise in teaching scuba diving.
Weather-Related Rescheduling: In the event of unfavourable weather conditions that hinder the completion of your course, we offer the option to reschedule based on our course schedule and availability.
Your Commitment to Us:
Medical Statement: Please carefully review the medical statement. If you answer 'YES' to any of the questions, we require your doctor's consent affirming your fitness to dive. We cannot provide dive training without this consent. This check must be completed before enrolling in the course, as your deposit covers your Online Theory and certification fees and is non-refundable.
Deposit Validity: Your deposit remains valid until the 1st of May for the respective season you've booked.
Re-booking Fee: If you need to reschedule your course with less than one week's notice, a NZ$200 re-booking charge will apply.
Course Non-Completion: In cases where a student cannot complete the course, the course cost is non-refundable, and a $200 re-booking charge will be incurred for enrolling in another course. If additional sessions are necessary for course completion, these extra sessions will be subject to additional fees based on the nature and extent of the additional training required.
Safety Guidelines: For your safety during training, the excessive consumption of alcohol and/or drugs is strictly prohibited. Timely arrival at the designated course times is mandatory.
