Advanced Adventurer Diver

This program allows you to experience five different open water dives from five SSI Specialty programs without requiring you to complete the entire Specialty. If you are unsure of your next step, this is the perfect way to advance your dive skills and experience, and to identify which Specialty programs interest you. You will earn the SSI Advanced Adventurer certification after completing this program.

Advancing Your Diving

Benefits of completing your Advanced Course with Goat Island Dive & Snorkel: 

  • You learn to dive in a world first Marine Reserve and get up close and personal with New Zealand’s friendliest fish

  • Our instructor to student ratios maximum of 1:6 ensure you are taught to dive properly and safely

This course will improve your skills whatever your level of experience and we work as a team to complete challenging objectives on every open water dive using different underwater scenarios and role playing. Become an advanced diver learn the skills and become more confident with you diving.

The Advanced Open Water course includes:

  • Advanced E Learning Online

  • 3 shore dives on day 1, including Navigation, also choose from Fish ID, Naturalist, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy or try your eye at digital photography (camera to hire extra)

  • 2  boat dives on day 2, Deep, Naturalist, Fish ID, Digital Photography or other specified specialty. 

The Advanced Open Water course will qualify you to reach deeper and more interesting sites with the skills necessary to be confident.

Student Prerequisites

  • Your PADI or SSI Open Water Certification or equivalent

  • Minimum age of 15 years (10yrs may also complete this course but please contact us).

  • All students must sit a basic dive medical within the last 12 months. Complete this medical form and see your local physician. Contact Goat Island Dive & Snorkel for information on local physicians if you are from out of town

  • Must be willing to set time aside for self-study preparation
